First World War Play at the Brighton Fringe

I look back at all the projects I ran all over Sussex about the First World War with so much love and pride still. There are some things that I will never forget. All of them together inspired a story. And I’m also a playwright, so I wrote a play: it’s called “Duty”, being produced by Twilight Theatre and is at the Lantern Theatre in Brighton 22-25 May.

Although there are many stories out there about the First World War, there are none that I know that tell the human story of the different calls to duty, to serve King and Country, or to serve humanity, and therefore be classed as a conscientious objector. There are separate stories out there but not both together, how it affects close friends. It’s set against the backdrop of all the real events at the time, including “The Battle of Boars Head”, and conscientious objectors: all based in Sussex, especially Eastbourne and Seaford.

There will be free project materials available for all audience members.

More information is in this press release.

I hope to see you there!

Back in Action

We’re back and developing new projects!

After lockdown was finally over, the world was of course rebuilding the essential things. While we were finishing one project off, which had an untimely pause due to lockdown happening, we concentrated on making sure everything could tick over until everyone was ready for wider community life and engagements to start again.

The funding landscape has completely changed, but we are confident that over the next few months we’ll be looking at what projects we can do and which members of the community we can work with.
